  • Born To Be follows the work of Dr. Jess Ting at the groundbreaking Mount Sinai Center for Transgender Medicine and Surgery in New York City—where, for the first time ever, all transgender and gender non-conforming people have access to quality transgender health and surgical care.

    With extraordinary access, this feature-length documentary takes an intimate look at how one doctor’s work impacts the lives of his patients as well as how his journey from renowned plastic surgeon to pioneering gender-affirming surgeon has led to his own transformation.

  • To increase understanding of and empathy for the trans experience; improve medical care and experiences for trans individuals; and inspire those aspiring to be doctors, caregivers, and medical staff to pursue careers in gender affirmation surgery.

  • ● Execute a grassroots screening tour with universities, medical communities, and LGBTQ+ nonprofit organizations while providing ways to take action and get involved.

    ● Curate and facilitate a digital campaign to leverage the film’s online presence and provide audiences with additional opportunities to learn about and engage with the issues in the film.

    ● 58 community screenings were hosted by 49 universities & organizations, with an estimated grassroots audience of over 4,000 people

    ● 2/3 of community screenings were hosted by medical university professionals and/or students studying medicine

    ● 100% of survey respondents said the film helped them learn something new or expand their understanding of transgender healthcare
